Policy
Legal usage
ReShade is free software under the BSD 3-Clause license. Using it does not override publisher EULAs, anti-cheat agreements or local law.
Install and configure ReShade only on systems and software you are allowed to modify. Some online services prohibit third-party injectors regardless of intent.
Do not redistribute ReShade binaries or shader archives as your own product. Point people to a legitimate download page and share only preset *.ini files when collaborating on looks.
reshade.dev presents download information for ReShade. It is not a substitute for legal advice.
Fair play
Ethical usage statement
Post-processing should improve presentation, not create unfair advantages in competitive play.
Intended use
Color grading, antialiasing, ambient occlusion, depth of field and similar cinematic or clarity improvements in contexts where the publisher allows overlays.
Multiplayer depth
Official ReShade disables depth buffer access when network activity indicates multiplayer, reducing depth-driven exploitation paths.
Official hashes only
Community guidance distinguishes signed official builds from modified forks. Forks that re-enable depth in multiplayer are not endorsed here.
Competitive caution
Even color-only changes can alter contrast. If a competitive title forbids injectors, uninstall ReShade for that executable.
Transparency
Open source and source transparency
As of January 1, 2017, ReShade is open sourced under BSD 3-Clause terms. The public source lets reviewers inspect how injection, depth gating and the ReShade FX compiler behave.
Since version 5.0, an add-on API exists for extending ReShade and host applications. The build with full add-on support is unsigned. Prefer signed installers when you do not need that API.
This site does not embed third-party outbound links. Use the integrity values on the download page when verifying files you already obtained.
Malware claims
No-malware clarification
ReShade is a legitimate post-processing injector. Heuristic antivirus products may still quarantine new builds because the technique resembles malicious DLL injection.
A detection alone is not proof of compromise. Compare the published SHA256 (Uptodown listing for 6.8.0) or X.509 thumbprint before restoring a quarantined EXE.
